AI Conversations
Getting the most from Claude AI assistance
Conversation Types
Grant Assistant provides AI conversations at different levels:
Organization Profile Conversations
Refine your nonprofit's profile, mission statement, and positioning.
Project Conversations
Develop project details, goals, outcomes, and strategy.
Grant Research Conversations
Research specific grants, discuss fit, and develop application strategy.
Section Conversations
Refine individual draft sections of your application.
How Conversations Work
Each conversation includes rich context about your organization, project, and grant. Claude sees:
- Your organization profile (mission, achievements, capacity)
- The relevant project details
- Grant requirements and funder information
- Previous research notes and analysis
- The conversation history
Effective Prompting
Get better results by being specific in your questions:
Good prompts:
- "What are the three strongest points we can make about our capacity to run this program?"
- "How should we address the fact that we haven't worked in this geographic area before?"
- "Draft a paragraph explaining our evaluation methodology for the statement of need"
Less effective prompts:
- "Help me with the grant" (too vague)
- "Write the application" (too broad)
- "Is this grant good?" (lacks context on what you want to know)
Suggested Updates
When Claude suggests changes to your profile, project, or draft sections, you'll see suggestion cards that let you:
- Accept: Apply the suggestion to your data
- Dismiss: Ignore this suggestion
Always review suggestions before accepting. Claude provides helpful starting points, but you know your organization best.
Extracting Research Notes
When Claude shares valuable insights during a grant research conversation, you can save them as research notes. Click "Extract Note" to capture insights like:
- Funder priorities and preferences
- Application strategy recommendations
- Key talking points to emphasize
- Potential risks or concerns to address
Research notes are included in future AI context, so Claude remembers what you've learned.
